Brandy's Home Page

A short explanation of these pages is needed to see if you would like to stay and look around. There is not a particular theme to these pages; generally, they are showing different aspects of my life. Being an eclectic site, you may want to explore; who knows, you may find something interesting and maybe even learn something. So be adventurous and see what is here. Please stay for a while and look around.

If you were wondering, the background is a picture I took from a Cessna 203 as I was traveling from Two Moon Bay to Valdez, Alaska (play time!). If the waterfall has a name I do not know what it is. Typically, it would not have a name since these waterfalls are so numerous most do not have names.

Also, the site and the pages are a work in progress.

Snow and Avalanches

The link above (Snow and Avalanches) will direct you to information regarding one of the passions in my life: Snow & Avalanches.

For most of my life I have been very fortunate in being able to work, play and live in the mountains of the Western United States and South Central Alaska. Especially satisfying was the opportunity to have jobs that paid me to go skiing. It was not always sunshine, powder and no "duds"; although, a more satisfying, rewarding (not monetarily), passion fulfilling occupation would be difficult to find. For me, skiing is a requirement to find balance in my life.

The information was gathered from personal experiences and knowledge gained from spending hours studying snow physics, meteorology, digging snow pits, throwing bombs, predicting avalanches, conversing with my peers and becoming intimate with the mountains I skied on. Also, information was "borrowed" from the USFS Northwest Avalanche Center, The Avalanche Handbook and the Avalanche Safety book.
